One more project in the hands of the Greek-Rum Community.

Yesterday, Tuesday 4 February 2020, His Eminence Metropolitan of Tranoupoli Germanos, surrounded by the board of directors, associates and friends of our community, held the inauguration blessing of the historical building of the Αynalicesme primary school, which dominates the last series of buildings at Tarlabasi avenue, just before the plain of Tepebasi hill overlooking the Golden Horn and the old City.

All floors of the building - including the once flooded basement facing the open space - have been fully remodelled and are now ready for operation. The Board of Directors – and all our valuable partners - expressed their satisfaction and pride, as the remodelling of said building has been a long-standing wish for our community and for our Patriarch. After the initial planning, the finding of funds and the implementation of the remodelling, the project can be now added to our extensive heritage portfolio to be handed over to the following generations. We would like to thank the Ortaköy Community and its President Mr. Stratos Doltsiniadis for the donation of 15,000TRY for the operational needs of the building.

The equipment and furniture of the flats was a significant parameter for the completion of the project and handing over the building to cover the needs of the Diaspora. We are very grateful to those who donated items for the flats’ furnishing.

In specific, we would like to thank Mr. Vasili Diamantoglou, Mr. Nikolao Kolman, Mr. Kostas and Mr. Michalis Pouskouloglou, as well as the member of our Board, Spiros Chatzianastasiou, who donated almost all items from his parents’ house, for their significant contribution to our Community.
