Today, Zografeion Lyceum put on its festive attire and celebrated 132 years since its founding.
This year’s anniversary carried a special character. The Stavrodromi Community lovingly prepared the treats at the school’s entrance, while the coffees were generously sponsored by Vasıl Bey Café, adding a distinctive flavor to the joy of the day. The School Principal, Mr. Yiannis Demirdjoglou, welcomed students and teachers with 132 colorful balloons — symbols of hope, continuity, and wishes for the future.
As every year, all together they captured the moment with the customary photograph at the entrance, while the celebration continued in the “Dimitrios Fragkopoulos” Assembly Hall. There, the voices of good wishes for the school echoed, and everyone joined in dancing to the song that has become the anthem of Romiosyni in the City, “Ehe geia, panta geia” (“Farewell, Always Farewell”).
Afterwards, the students went up to the top floor of the School. With the Principal’s blessing — “may there be peace, love, and solidarity throughout the world” — they released the balloons into the sky of Istanbul, sending messages of hope to every corner.
At the end of the school program, students and teachers proceeded to the historic Church of the Entrance of the Theotokos, where His Grace Bishop Benjamin of Tralleis, Auxiliary Bishop of our Community, celebrated the blessing for the beginning of the new school year, sealing the day with spiritual joy and grace.
Many happy returns to Zografeion Lyceum, which for 132 years has continued to illuminate the path of knowledge and tradition.
