Today, Thursday, August 6, 2026, on the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, a festal Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Church of the Transfiguration, located within the historic Greek Orthodox Cemetery of Şişli, presided over by His Grace Bishop Benjamin of Tralleis.
In this sacred place, where faith meets memory and the history of Istanbul’s Greek Orthodox community, today’s celebration filled the hearts of the faithful with emotion, light, and hope. Following the Divine Liturgy, refreshments and grapes were offered in accordance with the tradition of the feast.
Both the cemetery and the Church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour continue to stand as living testimonies to the enduring presence of the Greek Orthodox community in Istanbul and to the preservation of its historical memory.
