Courtesy Visit of the Governor and Ministry of Education Officials to Zografeion Lyceum. On the occasion of the recent renovation of the Zografeion Lyceum building, a courtesy visit took place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, by the Governor of Beyoğlu, Mr. Atakan Atasoy, together with senior officials from the Ministry of Education of Istanbul and Beyoğlu.
Mr. Atasoy was accompanied by his wife, as well as by Mr. Atilla Mutlu, Director of Private Schools at the Istanbul Directorate of Education; Mr. Bülent Alaş, Deputy Director of Private Schools at the Istanbul Directorate of Education; Mr. Cevat Dervişoğlu, Director of the Beyoğlu Directorate of Education; and Mr. Hakan Gündoğar, Director of Private Schools at the Beyoğlu Directorate of Education.
The delegation arrived at Zografeion in the morning, where they were warmly welcomed at the entrance by the Principal of Zografeion Lyceum, Mr. Yiannis Demirdzoglou; the President of the Historic Stavrodromi Community, Mr. George Papaliaris; the Representative of the Founder, Mr. Stratos Doltsianiadis; and the Vice-Principal of Zografeion, Ms. Sunay Kılıçarşlan.
Students of Zografeion also greeted the guests at the entrance, while student Eva Minopoulou welcomed them by playing the piano, creating a particularly warm and heartfelt atmosphere.
Mr. Demirdzoglou welcomed the official visitors to his office, and shortly after, the entire group proceeded to the Ceremony Hall, where they were greeted by the school’s teachers and students.
After a brief welcome speech by Mr. Demirdzoglou, the Governor, Mr. Atakan Atasoy, took the floor and referred to the excellent cooperation he maintains with both the Principal of Zografeion and the President of the Historic Stavrodromi Community, Mr. George Papaliaris, regarding the educational matters of the school and his ongoing support.
Mr. Atasoy then proposed that Zografeion take part in an upcoming event organized by the Governor’s Office. The event will feature choirs from various districts of Istanbul performing songs in all the languages spoken across Turkey, aiming to convey a message of peace and love to the world.
After the exchange of commemorative plaques and the customary group photos, the guests, accompanied by Mr. Demirdzoglou, Mr. Papaliaris, and Mr. Doltsianiadis, proceeded to the top floor of the school, where they had the opportunity to see firsthand the renovations and discuss educational matters concerning the school’s operation and future course.
The visit concluded in a warm and cordial atmosphere, with mutual expressions of appreciation and wishes for the continuation of fruitful cooperation in support of education and the younger generation.
