On March 6, 2026, World Day of Prayer, women from various Christian denominations prayed together. In the City, the World Day of Prayer was observed through a joint prayer service held at the Church of the Presentation of the Theotokos in Stavrodromi.

The theme chosen for 2026 is inspired by the words of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew: “Come… I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28–30). This is an invitation to those who carry burdens, to those who suffer, and to those who are anxious.

The World Day of Prayer reminds us that Christian comfort is not merely a feeling but also a responsibility. In this way, ecumenical prayer takes the form of a prophetic act: women and men unite to proclaim that no one should bear the burdens of life alone.
